Now as essential as a sound check, PVC Banners and Printed Backdrops are an expected gig accessory. Band banners for gigs and performances form part of the visual experience and are often the most shared visual of a gig. Social media, Instagram and Snapchat means it is difficult to gauge how worldwide the reach of printed backdrops really are. All we know is, when one of our stage scrims or backdrops gets dispatched we enjoy watching the social media feeds light up with pictures of our giant banners!
At Edinburgh Banners we have experience making banners for new and established bands. We have a range of tailored products and finishes specifically designed for on-stage use.
Band Backdrops And Stage Backdrops
There are many different banner options for bands. Here we help you choose the best stand and material.
The best solution is usually a combination of banner stands to suit different venues.
Gantry Banner – Ideal for Festival Banners and Large Touring Bands
Usually the largest and most prominent banner, gantry banners are hung behind the stage or integrated into the stage structure. Our gigantic 3.2m banner printer means we can print wider, longer and cheaper than nearly all of our competitors. By using a wider printer than most competitors, this means for the extra-large banners we need to use fewer seams. This saves cost for you in manufacturing, faster dispatch times and overall makes for a more durable stage banner.
We can supply free-standing gantry trussing for straight or curved backdrop banners. Gantry stands start from 50cm wide to above 10m+ widths.
Free-Standing Tension Banner – Ideal for New and Travelling Bands & DJ’s
The free-standing banner stand is great for new and travelling bands. Folding down to a compact size it is ideal for taking to gigs in the back of your car. Use one banner stand on its own or a handful positioned around the stage to create a powerful visual.
Tensioned banner stands are available in widths from 1.5m-2.4m and any height up-to 2.4m tall. Your band banner can also be printed single or double-sided. If you drop a band member don’t panic as we also sell reprint banner graphics!
Roller Banners for Bands
Starting at only £39.50, roll up banners are a great economy option for on-stage sets and gigs. Super compact and fast to set up, these are great for gigs in pubs and smaller venues. Being freestanding they are also great for off-stage promotions, advertise t-shirt sales other gigs and more.
Available in a range of widths from just 60cm wide to 150cm. Roller banners are great value but are limited in maximum size.

Any of the above banner options have a choice of material
The best materials for Band Banners
Outdoor Grade PVC – cheap and durable this is a great option for indoor or outdoor use. The print quality is near-photographic with its smooth finish. The disadvantages are predominantly weight and audio impact. By being waterproof and airproof, the material, if placed in front of a speaker, will distort the noise.
The most common material for large stage banners. Made from PVC but with small holes, this reduces weight and allows air and sound to pass through the banner. The mesh fibres also mean they are more durable than a flat PVC material. The fibre texture makes it more difficult to scratch and less susceptible to fold and crease lines.
Polyester fabric is the lightest weight but also the most expensive option. Unfortunately, the light-weight nature of polyester also means it is not the most durable of materials.
